Fruits of Fulflood Spring 2014 update

DSC_0010bTo update you on the outcome of the Fruits of Fulflood project. These are the stats:

  • Over 600kgs fruit (apples, crab apples, pears, quince, plums, grapes, blackberries, cobnuts)
  • 350 jars of produce
  • 30 litres of juice
  • Surplus of £270 shared between Winchester Churches Nightshelter & SWVG

The objective of the project was to re-distribute and use unwanted fruit, showing people how much is grown locally. The project will run again this year and we hope to start earlier, to take advantage of gluts of currants and soft fruit. We also hope to hold a Fulflood Apple Day in the autumn, making cider and juice. Please contact us if you expect to have surplus fruit, would like to join in the harvesting, sorting, distributing or jam-making. Learn new skills and meet new people!
